Updates to County e-Procurement System – The Office of Procurement is updating the County’s procurement system in the new fiscal year to streamline the procurement process and provide greater transparency. Vendors will begin receiving email communications on how to access the new system, release dates, and information on trainings to learn more about the latest features. We will also post updates on our website so please check back often for the latest updates.

Prince George’s County Supply Schedule (PGCSS) – OOP has established the PGCSS to streamline the procurement of various goods and services for county agencies. This initiative is designed to foster a competitive environment, reduce the time needed for procurement, and promote the engagement of CBSBs and CBMBEs. We recently enhanced the PGCSS by expanding the existing scopes of work and adding a few new categories. There are currently 12 categories of opportunity, and as we continue to analyze the county’s procurement needs, more categories will be added. These opportunities are listed below in the ‘Current Solicitation Postings’ section.

Visit the Supply Schedule to learn more about this program, how it can benefit your business, and how to submit applications to each schedule.

National Small Business Week (May 4 - 10) – The Office of Procurement is celebrating the incredible work of Prince Georges County’s local small businesses for National Small Business Week.  During this week, this agency will officially launch its business pop-up series where Director Dickerson and senior leadership will go out to the community to visit local businesses to recognize their amazing work.  There will also be a networking event, a small business fair open to County agencies and the public, and more.  Please stay tuned to our website for more information in the upcoming days. This is not a week you want to miss!

KNOWLEDGE CORNER

Registering versus Certification – What is the Difference, and Which Should I Do?

Registration – Vendors seeking to do business with the County must register in the e-procurement system after receiving a contract award to receive a purchase order and submit invoice payments in the new e-procurement system release in Summer 2025.  Interested vendors can view the Vendor Registration Process to learn more about registration.

Certification – Vendors seeking to do business with the County should carefully consider the benefits of certifying their business in the County.  Benefits include:

  • Ability to respond to ‘restricted’ procurements that are set-aside specifically for certified businesses,

  • Access to apply to the Prince Georges County Supply Schedule, the primary resource for seeking vendors to do business with the Government,

  • Keeping local dollars in the County and contributing to a robust, thriving local economy.

Interested vendors can learn more about the certification process and trainings in the Certifications and Compliance System.

Should you register and certify?  That depends – if you already have a county contract and only seek payment, registering with the e-procurement system is best. If you wish to gain access to additional opportunities only available to certified businesses, it is best to certify and register upon contract award.  If you have any questions regarding registration and/or certification, please contact the Office of Procurement.

Vendors new to the County or wishing to do business with the County can request a Vendor Day Meeting.  Vendor Day is an outreach effort to afford vendors an opportunity to meet with County staff and introduce their company to the County. Vendor Day provides the Vendor a set time (not to exceed an hour) and date to perform a demonstration of their company’s capability/capacity or to ask questions about “How to Win Business with the County”. This is an informal meeting with a member of Supplier Development and Diversity Division (SD3), Contracts Administration and Procurement (CAP), and representative(s) of the relevant County Agency. To schedule a meeting, complete the vendor request form or call the Office of Procurement at (301) 883-6400 for more information.

Fiscal Year 2025 Collaboration with the Clean Water Partnership

OOP is also excited to announce a new collaboration with the Clean Water Partnership (CWP).  CWP is a 30-year partnership within Prince George’s County to improve the stormwater infrastructure and make a commitment to impact the local economy through “local” targeted disadvantaged subcontractor development and utilization.

OOP and CWP formed this collaboration to leverage their unique technical skill.  Through CWP’s community outreach, contractor development, and compliance program expertise, this alliance proactively helps build capacity to ready businesses in the County for procurement opportunities for target class contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers, and helps bolster economic development while growing local small businesses.

These efforts are designed to increase the participation of target class businesses which include local, small, minority, and women owned business enterprises more specifically designated as Prince George’s County business enterprises. This strategic alliance provides additional capacity building supportive services and counseling for small businesses.
