County Government

Executive Branch

Led by the County Executive, this branch oversees the daily operations of County government and manages departments and services. The Executive Branch proposes the County budget and sets priorities for future growth.

County Executive Aisha N. Braveboy

Aisha Braveboy was elected County Executive of Prince George's County on June 3, 2025, during a special election, and took office on June 19, 2025. County Executive Braveboy takes office from Acting County Executive Tara Jackson, who served the period between former County Executive Angela Alsobrooks’ election to the U. S. Senate and the special election in which County Executive Braveboy was elected.

The County Executive leads our many offices and departments, which focus on services, safety, and stability.

Legislative Branch

The County Council is the Legislative Branch of the County. It creates laws, represents County residents, and approves the County budget.

Judicial Branch

The County's Judicial Branch includes the courts, Sheriff, and State's Attorney.  It is responsible for serving justice, ensuring fair trials, and upholding the law.
 

Courts

Our Judicial Branch is a fair forum for justice. The Prince George's County Circuit Court welcomes all.

Sheriff

The Office of the Sheriff is the law enforcement arm of the Court system. They provide services that are fair, impartial, and effective.

State's Attorney

The State's Attorney Office safeguards our community through the prosecution of all criminal cases.
