Dynamic Messaging Signs

Portable Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) are a vital component of the Center's Intelligent Transportation Systems' (ITS) initiative. The Trip Center uses DMSs to display a variety of messages to inform motorists of changing traffic conditions, roadway related special events and unusual driving conditions. Other uses of DMSs include, but are not limited to:
  • Incident Management
  • Traffic Alerts
  • Special Events
  • New Traffic Signal Installation
  • County Roadway Construction

DMSs are used for traffic related messages only. These signs are available for special event rentals at a rate of $300 per DMS per day, additional charge may apply. Please submit a written request form (PDF) to the Chief of Traffic Management and Operations Division of DPW&T.
