New DPIE Fees Start March 2

DPIE will implement fee changes beginning March 2, 2025, to help fund the issuance of permits and licenses. The new fees were scheduled to be implemented on February 17, 2025; we have extended the date to March 2, 2025. The new fees will apply to permits applied for on or after March 2.  Fees for permits applied for before March 2, 2025, will be based on the previous fee structure. The County Council approved the updated fee schedule in November 2024 in CR-087-2024.

Under the new formula, fees will increase 20 percent, with a 10 percent technology fee. The increase means that an applicable fee which costs $50 under the previous fee schedule will increase to $60, plus a 10% technology fee. The new fees will be posted in the 2025 DPIE Fee Schedule. To view the legislation, visit the Prince George’s County Legislative/Zoning Information System (LZIS), CR-087-2024.

Licensing Center Services

BUSINESS and HEALTH licenses are administered through the Licensing Center.

  • Business Licenses
The Licensing Center issues BUSINESS Licenses and regulates various business activities per the County Code. In addition, staff monitors and investigates items/concerns related to Code Compliance throughout the active term of a license. This includes ensuring certain Use and Occupancy (U&O) permits are current and that licenses adhere to professional standards and operate in accordance with County Code. (Business Licensing started in Momentum on Oct. 13, 2020.)
  • Health Licenses
Visit DPIE's HEALTH Licenses pages for information about Food Service Facility, Public Pools and Spas, and other Health Licensing permits. (Health Licensing started in Momentum on Oct. 25, 2020.)

RENTAL licenses are administered through DPIE's Enforcement Division.

  • Rental Licenses
All Prince George's County RENTAL licenses (single family, multifamily and short-term rental) are administered by DPIE's Enforcement Division, not the Licensing Center. For rental license complaints, please contact PGC311. (Rental Licensing started in Momentum on Oct. 13, 2020.)

Business Licensing started in Momentum on Oct 13, 2020. Health joined Momentum on Oct 25, 2021. Before Momentum, all business licenses and health permit/licenses were issued in ePermits. Thank you.
