Acting County Executive Jackson Celebrates Local Entrepreneurs to Kick Off National Small Business Month

LARGO, MD – In celebration of National Small Business Month, Acting Prince George’s County Executive Tara Jackson embarked on a multi-day tour to connect directly with local entrepreneurs and recognize the innovation, resilience, and community spirit that drive Prince George’s County’s small business economy. The tour was an opportunity for the Acting County Executive to hear firsthand about business owners’ experiences, challenges, and needs—and to reaffirm the County’s commitment to supporting their continued success.
“Our small businesses are the heart of Prince George’s County. They are not only economic engines, but also community builders and culture shapers,” said Acting County Executive Tara Jackson. “It’s important for me to be on the ground, hearing directly from our entrepreneurs and celebrating their impact.”
Throughout the first week of May, Acting County Executive Jackson visited a diverse slate of businesses across the County, each contributing uniquely to our local economy and community fabric:
- Spiced Black (Largo) – A Black-owned fast-casual restaurant that honors the flavors and traditions of the African diaspora through nutrient-rich grain bowls and salads. - Special Care Dentistry (Landover) – Led by Dr. Nekia Staley-Neither, this practice offers inclusive, high-quality dental care for patients with special needs. - Aussie Pet Mobile of Bowie and Upper Marlboro – Founded by entrepreneurial duo David and Keisha Hawkins following the pandemic, this mobile pet grooming franchise brings premium, cage-free pet care right to residents’ doorsteps. Designed to fit seamlessly into busy lives, the service offers a safe, eco-friendly experience that prioritizes both convenience and comfort for pets and owners alike.
