LARGO, MD –  With the conclusion of the 2025 Maryland General Assembly session, Prince George’s County is celebrating a strong return on its advocacy efforts in Annapolis, securing $183 million in state capital funding for critical priorities like healthcare, infrastructure, and economic development.

“These wins represent what happens when we stay focused on delivering real results for our residents,” said Acting Prince George’s County Executive Tara H. Jackson. “We went to Annapolis with a clear vision — to secure funding for healthcare access, invest in our schools, create economic opportunity, and protect working families. I’m proud to say we are bringing home the resources to continue doing just that.”

Healthcare Investments

Prince George’s County prioritizes equitable access to healthcare and has secured additional major investments in hospital infrastructure and new community-based health services:

  • $20M – New Obstetrical Care Tower at Luminis Health Doctors Community Medical Center

  • $11M – Prince George’s Community College Marlboro Hall renovations $376,000 – Prince George’s Community College Facilities Renewal Grant

  • $5M – College Park Airport improvements
  • $1M – Affordable housing near Glenridge Purple Line Station

Tax Relief for Working Families

The County also successfully fought for changes to the state’s new income tax plan — preserving itemization for residents earning under $200,000 annually. This critical fix protects thousands of Prince George’s County families from facing the second-highest projected tax increases in Maryland under the original proposal.

“Too often, working families bear the brunt of policy decisions made far from home,” said Acting County Executive Jackson. “This fix ensures that middle-class Prince Georgians can keep more of what they earn — and reflects our commitment to building a more equitable future for all who call this County home.”
