LARGO, MD – “We agree with Director Patel that the current FBI headquarters in Washington, D.C. is not suitable for work. The building is decrepit and unsafe—and it is unacceptable to ask our nation’s top law enforcement professionals to operate in those conditions. FBI agents and support staff deserve safe, modern facilities and the full set of tools required to carry out the mission of a 21st-century law enforcement agency.

“That’s why the General Services Administration’s decision to build a new FBI headquarters in Prince George’s County was the right one. After a long and rigorous site selection process, it became abundantly clear that our County is the best home for the FBI’s future. We are ready to equip the FBI with the infrastructure, access, and innovation it needs to do its job—because we understand what’s at stake.

“This is a matter of national security. The sooner we deliver this new headquarters in Greenbelt, the sooner we can return relocated employees back home and ensure the FBI is operating at full strength. Every day that passes without a modern facility is another day that agents work without the resources they need—and that’s why we must move quickly to build the new headquarters and bring the FBI’s workforce back to a safe, permanent, and unified location.”
