Statement from Acting Prince George’s County Executive Tara Jackson on Recent Criminal Charges Against Retired County Firefighter

LARGO, MD – “The allegations brought forward against retired Prince George’s County firefighter John Inman are deeply troubling.
“We commend police for their thorough investigation and resulting arrest. As public servants, we hold a sacred responsibility to protect those we serve— especially our young people and most vulnerable residents. Any allegation that someone used a position of public trust to cause harm is alarming and must be addressed with urgency and care.
“The moment these allegations came to light, County agencies acted swiftly and decisively to support law enforcement’s investigation. Prince George’s County is committed to ensuring that anyone who abuses their position of public trust is held fully accountable under the law.
“We also recognize the immense courage it takes to come forward and report abuse— particularly when the accused is someone in a position of authority. We stand with survivors and support their pursuit of justice.
“We implore anyone who may have more information or who may have been harmed by Inman to contact the Prince George’s County Police Department. The County is steadfast in our commitment to protecting our residents, supporting survivors, and pursuing justice without exception.”
