What You Should Know

The Facts

• Bats can carry rabies, a fatal disease.

If You Are Bitten by a Bat:

• Wash any bites/scratches with soap and water and see your doctor.

If You Find Bats in Your Home:

• The bats should be sent for testing.
• Do not touch the bat.
• Call Animal Management Division to pick it up at 301-780-7200.

Your home may need to be bat proofed. For more information on bats found in houses , go to the Maryland Wildlife and Heritage Service.
