Administrative Care Coordination/Ombudsman Unit (ACCU)
Services
The Administrative Care Coordination/Ombudsman Unit (ACCU) program provides assistance to HealthChoice members with the following:
- Understanding their HealthChoice benefits and how to access services
- Explaining how to choose a Managed Care Organization (MCO) that best fits their individual and or family needs
- Assisting with locating primary care physicians, prenatal providers, pediatricians and or dentists
- Linking to transportation, health care and or other community resources
- Acting as an advocate to fully address health care needs
- Assisting with the coordination of complex medical issues
- Helping to resolve HealthChoice complaints
- Explaining how to renew Medicaid benefits through Maryland Health Connections
- Clarifying the MCO annual renewal process
- Reviewing the appeal and grievance rights under HealthChoice
