Since its inception on June 1, 1931, the Prince George's County Police Department has been the primary police services agency in Prince George’s County. We are the fourth-largest full-service agency in the State of Maryland.

Non-Sworn Positions
The Police Department offers intern opportunities from youth to the collegiate students. Learn about unique learning opportunities for students interested in law enforcement.
The Police Cadet Program offers selected applicants the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in police work, while also earning an income and college credits towards an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice. Once the cadets complete the 2 ½-year program, they must then begin the process to become Prince George's County police officers, ready to serve and protect the residents of Prince George's County.

The Prince George's County Police Department is actively seeking applications for school crossing guard positions. School Crossing Guards are part-time employees with competitive salaries and benefits. The position comes with a personal sense of job satisfaction as you provide safety to schoolchildren on their way to and from school. School crossing guards oversee and control traffic flow around schools at the beginning and end of the school day.
