Classification Specifications
A class specification is a written definition of a job class. It includes the class title, code number, distinguishing class levels, duties, competency expectations, and minimum job requirements.

Salary Schedules
A salary plan or schedule includes job titles, class codes, salaries, and other job classification attributes within the Prince George's County Government.

The Classification & Compensation division ensures fair and equitable pay for all Prince George’s County Government employees. We collaborate with County agencies to develop strategies for classification & compensation objectives while adhering to state and federal guidelines.
In addition, the Classification & Compensation division:
- Reviews and analyzes data to provide recommendations regarding salary administration policies.
- Conducts job analysis, organizational studies, and audits to classify positions appropriately.
- Consults with agency directors, managers, and supervisors regarding position management and salary equity analysis requests.
FY25 Position Audits
Annual position audits will be accepted August 1, 2024 – September 30, 2024. To request an analysis of an employee-occupied position for a possible reclassification, please complete the required documents and send all information to ohrmclassification@co.pg.md.us.
